The Lowertown Art Crawl is happening from Friday May 13 to Sunday, May 15 in St. Paul’s Historic Lowertown Arts District.  It will include visits to the many art studios and galleries in that area, as well as some other fun activities for all ages.

The Lowertown Art Crawl has been around since the 1990s. They have spearheaded the Historic Lowertown Arts District while creating spaces for new work to flourish and incubate in this section of St. Paul.

The Art Crawl will feature exhibits from the personal galleries of residential artists in several locations. These locations include: Lowertown Lofts, Northern Warehouse, Tilsner Lofts and 262 Building; Galleries and Art Studios at Creators Space and the Northwestern Building; Argyle Zebra Gallery and Lowertown Underground Artists. In addition, there will be 30 additional artists showcased inside the Union Depot.

Art displays range in various media, including painting, photography, jewelry, pottery, textiles, sculpture, mixed media, illustration, digital art and more.  You also have the opportunity to purchase original art and talk with artists about their work, while supporting local artists, galleries, and businesses.

One such activity is the Scavenger Hunt. Participants can get a postcard from local vendors with many partial art images from building and galleries across the district. They match these pieces of art with the actual painting. Postcards are available at the St. Paul Farmer’s Market, Greeter’s Tables, and other Lowertown places.

While you are checking out the artists and their new works, you can also shop the St. Paul Farmer’s Market, eat from food trucks, and other vendors in the district.  Plus, check out great places to dine including  Kyatchi, Big River Pizza, Urban Wok, Café 81, Dark Horse, Bull Dog, Creators Cup, True Stone Coffee, the Lost Fox, and many other locales across Lowertown St. Paul.

The hours for the Art Crawl and Scavenger Hunt are Friday, May 13 from 5-9 p.m.; Saturday, May 14 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday, May 15 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Enjoy great works of arts from local professional and emerging artists, some great food, and a nice afternoon in Lowertown St. Paul!
