From The Editor: T’is The Season

Here we are…November of 2023. Before we know it, it will be Thanksgiving. Then, Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa.

Where has this year gone?

It has been quite a year, so far. I won’t comment further, only to say that we have moved in an uneven and odd pace.

Now, we’ve arrived at the footsteps of the Holiday Season. That means your plans will be in motion for gatherings and family, friends, and strangers. Gifts to shop for and give. And, to find ways to manage the stress of the end of the year.

Over the years, Lavender produced an extensive gift guide at this point of the year that offers many ideas to give to the ones you love. This year, we’ve decided to combine and concentrate a gift guide with entertainment options through the holidays.

Don’t worry, we’ve got gift ideas. Read onward to see the ideas we have for you this year!

That includes baked goods. Not just to give to someone for the holidays, but to add to the table for one of those gatherings.

Our book choices have expanded, as well. Perfect for a growing community of parents and youth!

Then, there’s our entertainment guide. We have been fielding a lot of ideas from across Minnesota to put it altogether. Whether it is a traditional choral performance or to see a Broadway Drag superstar alongside her Pacific Northwest friend – that would be Jinkx Monsoon and BenDeLaCreme, for those of who guessed correctly – on a Hennepin Theatre Trust stage, we have you covered.

We also introduce you to the Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus’ 43^rd season. And, take you on stage at one of our favorite stages for a new twist on an old Holiday classic. Like I said, we’ve got you covered!

The Holiday season is more than just gifts and entertainment. It is about connecting – and reconnecting – with the ones you love. Whether it is your family, significant other, friends, and so forth, the Holidays mean spreading cheer to end the year.

Perhaps the best gift to give is you. Your presence is priceless, no matter how much it would cost to be there. Besides, it may also be entertaining, too!

Some of us will need your presence. Be present for those who need it the most. That will be my gift to you.
