Slithering Temptation

It is written that a serpent coaxed Eve to imbibe the gift of knowledge. But perhaps it was fair Eve who did the tempting—charming the hapless snake into conceding the richest of fruits. It is she, and not the serpent or her hapless partner, who arguably receives the worst of the divine punishment. Genesis, however, cushions the blow thus: along with death, pain and social consciousness was also born fashion.
