Executive Director Curt Prins Leaves District 202 After a Year
District 202 announced the resignation and departure of Executive Director Curt Prins effective November 8. He had served in the position since 2009, during a year of major transition for the organization. District 202’s mission is to create safe spaces for GLBT youth and their allied friends where they can build self-confidence, self-expression, skills, and resources.
Tretter Collection Celebrates 10th Anniversary at Open House
On November 13, the Tretter Collection in GLBT Studies at the University of Minnesota hosted a community open house at the Elmer L. Andersen Library. Part of the Tretter Collection’s 10th-anniversary celebration, the event featured the Tretter Time Capsule and Oral History Project. The celebration continues with the exhibit Saving Our Lives through February 5.
Minnesota OUT! College Conference Networks Statewide Campuses
The fifth-annual Minnesota OUT! Campus Conference (MOCC) took place November 12-14 at Augsburg College in Minneapolis. It brought together students, faculty, alumni, and community members from around Minnesota and the surrounding region to discuss issues facing GLBT and allied communities on college and university campuses, as well as in the greater community.
Community Gathers for Transgender Day of Remembrance Vigil
On November 20, at Spirit of the Lakes/Minnehaha United Church of Christ in Minneapolis, the local GLBT community joined the Human Rights Campaign for the 12th-annual Transgender Day of Remembrance Vigil. Throughout the world, people gather every year to pay respect to those needlessly killed by hate crimes against the transgender community.
