Marriage Equality Rallies Held in Two Cities

Anti-equality group National Organization for Marriage (NOW) was in St. Paul, St. Cloud, and Rochester recently. Marriage-equality activists countered with two events: Stand Up for Love at the Capitol in St. Paul on July 28; and Rally for Marriage Equality in St. Cloud on July 29.

Minnesota Lynx Host Catwalk for a Cure

On July 31, the Minnesota Lynx hosted the second annual Catwalk for a Cure at the Mall of America. Proceeds from the fundraiser benefited the Lynx Foundation and the American Cancer Society. Christopher Straub from Season Six of Project Runway was the featured special guest.

Meyer Is New OutFront Minnesota Executive Director

On August 6, Monica Meyer was named Executive Director of OutFront Minnesota, after having served briefly as Interim Executive Director. She had been the organization’s Public Policy Director since 2001. She has engaged in grassroots organizing and policy advocacy on behalf of progressive causes since 1992.

Ahlvers Named One of the Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40

The National LGBT Bar Association recently named David E. Ahlvers one of the best LGBT lawyers under 40. He is cofounder of the local Family Solutions Law Group. An experienced family law attorney, he received his JD degree cum laude from the University of Minnesota.
