Passing: Dan Hanson 1948-2009

Dan Charles Hanson, 61, passed away September 19. He will be loved and forever missed by his partner of 33 years, Keith Grennier, along with his sister, Suzanne Hanson, and other family.
All friends and family are invited to a memorial service celebrating Hanson’s life on November 15, 1-4 PM, at Macalester College, A.G. Hill Ballroom, Kagin Commons, 1600 Grand Avenue, St. Paul.
Born May 4, 1948, Hanson received Bachelor and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of South Dakota. He engaged in the private practice of law for several years in Belle Fourche, South Dakota. After moving to the Twin Cities in 1975, he worked at Allstate Insurance Company and Thomson Reuter (formerly West Publishing).
An active and involved member of the local GLBT community for many years, Hanson worked tirelessly throughout his life to promote human rights and civil liberties for all persons. He was on the Minneapolis Civil Rights Commission. He was a board member of the Minnesota Civil Liberties Union. He was cofounder of Minnesota Gay and Lesbian Legal Assistance (MnGALLA). Lastly and most closely to his heart, he was a board member and volunteer at Quatrefoil Library.
