Hafiz Takes the Helm at the Gay 90’s

On May 20, gregarious Peter J. Hafiz officially became the new owner of the Gay 90’s. He has a number of other successful businesses in Downtown Minneapolis. He bought the bar from Mike Bloom, whose family had owned it since 1979.

Hafiz says, “As the new owner of the Gay 90’s, it gives me great honor to continue a proud and devoted commitment to a half-century tradition of serving the GLBT community and friends. My family and colleagues shall strive to create the transformation of this landmark over the next few months inside and out into a fabulous entertainment venue. We will be showcasing the finest facility with the utmost entertainment, hospitality, and guest services the Twin Cities has ever seen. I thank you for your acceptance and patience throughout our construction time to come. I’m looking forward to meeting you and welcoming your input in creating the Grand New Gay 90’s!”

Although specifics can’t be released at this time, major changes should begin soon—but the bar definitely will remain primarily a gay establishment.
