Furniture Manor

Perhaps my experience shopping for new furniture is different from that of the average customer. I sincerely hope so, because what by all rights should be an enjoyable and creative mission to improve one’s surroundings often turns into a stressful chore. I have spent long hours wandering up and down the aisles of the big box stores, lured in by a television ad and the promise of a large selection, only to find that the prices are astronomical, and the salespeople are either nonexistent or so aggressive, you find yourself looking for the nearest exit.

If you’ve found yourself in just such a situation, calmly back away, get into your vehicle, and make the drive to Osseo, Minnesota, where Furniture Manor provides an impressive selection of quality furniture and unique accessories; a friendly sales and design staff; and, best of all—lower prices.

Co-owner Robin Peters says, “Because we’re smaller, our overhead is smaller than the big box store, so we can afford to have better prices.”

“Smaller” is relative when it comes to Furniture Manor. With a 25,000-square-foot showroom, plus an adjacent warehouse, the store easily is able to keep up with customer demands, while offering something a little bit out of the ordinary.

Peters explains, “[Our buyers] pick out things we think are cool, tasteful, and special—and not just what everyone else has or what the factory’s pushing.”

Furniture Manor caters to a wide variety of styles, including contemporary, traditional, cottage, European, and upscale urban.

As well, Furniture Manor has an in-house design team whose services are free with a $1,000 purchase. A designer may venture to a client’s house to help make an assessment of what to keep and what to add, or can work in-store from digital photos if that’s more convenient. Additionally, whereas a big box store is pushing for a quick big-ticket sale, a salesperson or designer at Furniture Manor approaches his or her job with different values.

Peters states, “They really care about how the rooms come out and how they look—and they depend on that for return business.”

In business since 1969, Furniture Manor’s mind-set has made it a word-of-mouth success story throughout the Twin Cities.

As extra incentive for the budget-savvy, Peters shares that the showroom currently boasts a wealth of large-scale accessories to update a room without breaking the bank.
