Playwright Daniel MacIvor’s Cul-de-Sac boldly swings out against the white picket fence delusions and rationalizations of the white middle class in a way unlike anything you’ve probably ever seen before. In a magnificent solo performance, Wade Vaughn plays multiple characters who are petty neighbors at the end of a comfortable residential street.

The play centers around Lawrence, an dissonant gay man who has experienced something life-altering. We come to know what that was through the voices of the neighbors: a snarky adolescent, a sexually frustrated married straight couple, a reasonably balanced married straight couple, and an eccentric veterinarian. A scene where Lawrence brings home a rough trade hustler is utterly breathtaking. Directed with sharp intelligence by Natalie Novacek.
