AIDS Quilt Comes to Wilde Roast

For the first time in many years, Minnesotans will be able to view the AIDS Memorial Quilt, a 54-ton quilt which honors and memorializes those who have died from AIDS. Made of over 48,000 unique,12×12  panels and dedicated to over 94,000 individuals, Minnesotans can view sixteen of these panels from November 28-December 1, thanks to the Wilde Roast Cafe. The quilt will be housed in a room near the cafe, and volunteers from the Red Ribbon Ride will be present to answer any questions about the quilt and AIDS awareness.

This educational piece of folk art has been living up to its mission to “foster healing, heighten awareness, and inspire action in the age of AIDS” for over 25 years. As a continual project, people are encouraged to add new panels to the ever-expanding quilt. Preserved and cared for by The Names Project, sections of the AIDS Memorial Quilt are displayed across the country. The quilt also exists in its entirety online, where viewers can search for the names of their loved ones.
