From The Editor: Faithful Friends Who Are Dear To Us
The holiday season is upon us! As we prepare for the incoming snowy weather and the below-zero joys that come with it, it’s also time to start the hunt for the perfect gifts for our friends and family as we await the holidays and the new year.
If you’re struggling for great gift ideas, you’re in luck! Welcome to Lavender‘s 2019 Holiday Gift Guide, where we offer up an overabundance of fantastic goodies in the realms of holiday entertainment, food, fashion, jewelry, cars, pets, and more!
On top of that, we also look at a Day In The Life of Tiffany Hedstrom, and our friend Ellen Krug observes upon the importance of the Transgender Day of Remembrance.
And while this time of year is high time for holiday cheer, it’s also the perfect time to reflect on our loved ones themselves, especially those that we’ve lost this year.
Last month, Lavender and the Twin Cities as a whole lost our good friend John Townsend, whose impact on the local arts and GLBT communities was immeasurable. That impact was illustrated by the outpouring of memorials, remembrances, and fond stories from our readers and those whose lives John has touched, and on behalf of Lavender, I want to thank all of you for your beautiful words and messages. John was an incredible voice for our community, and while our arts coverage will continue in one form or another, there is simply no replacing John and his command of the written word, especially in relation to local theater.
So as you prepare for the yuletide season, remember to reach out to those you love and remind them how much they mean to you. Stay safe, keep warm, and always remember to take care of yourselves. From all of us here, have a wonderful holiday season!
