2019 was a momentous year for both Lavender and the GLBT community at large, and with a brand-new decade on the horizon, we look back on a historic 2019 as we look forward to 2020 and beyond.
This past year, Lavender joined in the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the landmark Stonewall Riots, recognizing those who came before us to bring the GLBT Rights Movement to the forefront, and those who continue to advocate for our community to this day. We continue to honor and profile the GLBT members of the Minnesota National Guard, our Big Gay News arm continues to keep viewers up-todate on the latest GLBT-related news stories, and as always, we continue to provide our readers exemplary, in-depth content.
As we strive to provide our readers the best resources and content possible, we are proud to present you our latest annual Pride Pages. Within these pages are a plethora of businesses and organizations that serve the GLBT community with pride. By patronizing these fine organizations, you not only support local businesses, but you also support businesses that are there for our community through thick and thin.
Lavender Media continues to deliver free, high-quality content on newsstands every two weeks with our print magazine, but you can also continue to find the information and resources you need on our newly redesigned website, and our magazine’s online edition.
Lavender also hosts a special happy hour get-together every First Thursday of the month to allow our amazing community and allies to meet, hang out, and network with one another; these wonderful events also feature prize drawings, free appetizers, and drink specials.
As momentous as it is to celebrate a new decade, we are equally thrilled to celebrate Lavender’s 25th anniversary in June 2020. A quarter-century ago, we created this publication to serve our local GLBT community, and a quarter-century later, we continue to do so as our community grows and evolves. We look forward to celebrating this landmark occasion, and we look forward to celebrating this community for many more years to come.
So as the 2010s come to a close, we wish you and yours a Happy New Year, and a prosperous new decade to come for our 262,299 readers per issue.
