From the Editor: There’s No Place Like Home… And Garden
I’ve counted Minneapolis as my home for nearly a decade now, and being the obvious millennial that I am, I’ve been more acquainted with the apartment life rather than owning my own home. Not to say that there’s anything wrong with renting, but obviously that means I can’t do much in the way of home renovation or landscaping. In my defense, however, I can still hang a mean framed picture. Nobody can touch me on that one.
But for those of you with a home, condo or townhouse to call your own, a lot of work goes into putting together your little slice of domestic heaven: gardening, renovating, finding the right furniture and accoutrement for the living room, designing your kitchen and bathroom, and much more. It takes a lot to make a home a home, so we’ve put together a very special Spring Home + Garden issue to help make that job a lot easier.
First off, we have a preview of the 2018 Minneapolis Home + Garden Show, which will feature a litany of slick exhibits, big-name speakers, and helpful resources to help you hone your feng shui skills. We also have a sneak peek of this April’s American Craft Council Show in St. Paul, which will feature crafts, jewelry, and other wares from designers local and national. Finally, we take a look at the delightful Spring Flower Show at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Chaska.
Furthermore, you may have noticed that Lavender’s recently been making some waves on the digital frontier with our video output. From our looks at local members of our community, our Big Gay News series with Charming the Unicorn and more, we’re upping our video game and there’s a lot more on its way. So keep your eyes peeled on our website and social media platforms!
Finally, some really exciting news regarding our upcoming Pride Edition: in April, Lavender will hold a Pride Celebrity contest, where you can have a chance to not only be the cover model for our June 7 Pride issue, but also win a Celebrity Cruise for two! More information will be coming out in late March, so stay tuned!
