There’s a lot of good food moving out into the suburbs these days and there are a lot of good food trucks making the transition from mobile to brick and mortar. The folks over at Sushi Fix are the embodiment of both trends. This Friday will mark the grand opening of Sushi Fix’s new brick and mortar location out in Wayzata. This is good news for everybody out in the wayfaring western suburbs!

We were fortunate enough to be invited to a press preview of the new fish den to sample some of their sultry sushi and sample we did! The variety of rolls were all great. Fresh and well prepared. If you’re a sushi lover, you’re going to like what they have to offer. In addition to the sushi they also have a lot of great appetizers. The fried pot-stickers were excellent. Crispy on the outside with a creamy puree of porky goodness on the inside. They also serve a skewer of small quail eggs wrapped in bacon. If eggs and bacon are involved, it’s nearly impossible to go wrong. I do think that my favorite bite of the night however, was their seaweed salad. I realize that might sound lame to some, but it’s seriously that good. It’s sort of a combination of two classic sushi sides. It’s one part seaweed salad one part cucumber salad. Together, the two are bliss.

If you’re out on the western side of town, hit up Lake Street in Wayzata and get yourself a Sushi Fix. The fish is good, the rolls are creative and delicious, and everything else is so far is good! Obviously it’s a bit early to really break it down for you, but I’m sure that once you sit down to a plate of fish and rice you’ll see where things are headed. They’ve already proved themselves on the truck. Having a physical location should be a slam dunk for these guys! Also, make sure that you say hello to chef/owner Billy. That dude’s hilarious!
