Minneapolis’ Andrea Jenkins City Council Win Makes Her the First Trans Woman of Color Legislator in the Nation

On Tuesday night, Minneapolis elected Andrea Jenkins, the country’s first trans woman of color legislator, to their city council. Jenkins is the first openly transgender woman of color to be elected to public office in the country and the first trans person to be elected to any municipal office, and was the second trans woman to win an election on Tuesday.
