China Wants To Resurrect Word ‘Comrade’, But Its Meaning Has Changed

The New York Times reports that Xi Jinping, president of China’s Communist Party, issued a directive urging party members to eschew titles and honorifics in favor of the revolutionary throwback term ‘comrade’ was issued after a meeting last month during the meeting of the Communist Party’s Central Committee, but that order might cause some confusion.
