Welcome to the Lavender Yellow Pages Edition

Lavender Media, publisher of Lavender Magazine, welcomes the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) as our nonprofit partner in the 2008 edition of Minnesota’s prize-winning GLBT Lavender Yellow Pages Edition. For the sixth consecutive year, we have created a rich directory of information that will benefit Minnesota’s GLBT community.
We are fortunate to have such a wealth of GLBT-owned, -operated, and/or -friendly establishments and resources available to us. This year, we continue to bring our community together by providing the most comprehensive GLBT directory to date.
With the cooperation of businesses and organizations statewide, Lavender Yellow Pages has gone into publication 26,000 copies strong. Those numbers, together with 800 distribution sites throughout the state, package the power of the GLBT community in one single directory. The sixth edition of the Lavender Yellow Pages is a continuing reminder of the magnitude of the GLBT community as a powerful, ever-expanding market.
The cover for this sixth edition was painted by well-known local artist Jim Dryden. An essay on him and his work appears on page 16, and information on how to win the unique original cover artwork appears below.
Because Lavender Yellow Pages is not only owned and operated, but also printed in Minnesota, the proceeds will remain in Minnesota. The directory also employs Minnesota workers, allowing the Lavender Yellow Pages to offer businesses direct marketing and advertising opportunities at the lowest comparable rates.
All these factors help to advance our goal of making our community a place where GLBT Minnesotans have the freedom, power, and confidence to find the resources to make the best choices for their lives.
More than 1,000 resources are listed in the 2008 Lavender Yellow Pages Edition, as well as many other business listings, local scenes. The comprehensiveness of the listings makes the directory valuable to many visitors and Minnesota residents, as well as to the GLBT community.
We look upon our partnership with HRC and the future of our community with optimism and enthusiasm. We believe that the combination of our efforts and resources will strengthen the foundation of recognition, acceptance, and inclusion currently existing and growing throughout the communities we call home.
Lavender Media and HRC thank you for bringing this Lavender Yellow Pages Edition into your home or place of business, and for your continued support of our many participating businesses and organizations.
Jim Dryden’s original cover art will be auctioned at the HRC Dinner in September 2008. The proceeds will benefit HRC.
