Happy 39th Birthday, GLBT Minnesota! We finally have reached Jack Benny’s perpetual age. On May 18, 1969—six weeks before Stonewall, the event we celebrate each year at Pride—Koreen Phelps and Stephen Ihrig founded Fight Repression of Erotic Expression (FREE), Minnesota’s first gay organization. On a sad note, longtime activist Phelps passed away last summer, but her courage four decades ago will inspire us always.
